Hello and welcome to my blog! I am and artist, blogger, mama, and all around thing maker. I left my childhood home in Virginia to Brigham
Young University in 2005. While at BYU, I received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in Painting and Drawing and attended a life changing study abroad at Santa Reparata school or Art in Florence, Italy. Though classically trained, I consider myself a contemporary painter with a focus on symbolic figure work. Inspiration for many of my spiritual paintings comes from scripture. I'm most interested in the way that the poetic language of scripture lends itself to visual images. (But, I also I just like to play with paint). My artwork has been displayed in Washington, DC and
various locations throughout Utah.
I intend for this blog to function as my sketchbook, so you'll get to see the good, the bad, and the ugly. Destruction is a big part of my art-making, so you may see a post of a piece of artwork one day that ceases to exist the next. That's all part of the process. We often see artists who only show you perfectly finished work and we sit there and wonder about how this thing came into being. Here I hope to demystify some of that process and invite you along for the journey.

Hi Kathrine, I am friends with Melissa Calester here in Texas. I saw a picture she has of yours and I was wondering where I can buy your work? I love the one of a dad or mom washing a child's feet like Christ washed the feet of the deciples. Could you please contact me with information about where I can buy your drawings or paintings?

Can I please obtain permission from you to use this image as a one off in a spiritual retreat power point presentation I am leading this week on Mary and Martha?
